Bordeaux Style Blend 2005.

South Africa's premier wine arrived at last, albeit with a fair price tag!!!

The wine is described by the wine maker, Andre Van Rensbergas follows:
The nose is complex, showing black currant, cedarwood, loads of lead pencil and cigar box. After some 2 hours the dark fruits are joined by raspberries, black cherries, spice and a slight gaminess. On the palate the wine is elegant, but concentrated with fine grained tannins. With time in the glass, the tannins become soft and ultra luxurious and the wine finishes with a very long after taste.

You've got to try it!!!!

Will continue to improve with further ageing - recommended!!

Inviting bramble fruit crush on cigar box and sweet vanila spice.
Velvety rich mouth filling flavours unfold - layer upon layer. Beautifully crafted with great balance and structure. Tannins supple and yielding. Will continue to grow for some time - wine maker suggests up to 15 years!

Always a winner.. Bold complex and elegant, together with ever present Meerlust magic!

Nose pleasing, cassis cigar box and cedar
Pallet broad, complex and appealing. Full range of black fruit flavours. Wonderful balance with firm but yielding tannins and optimum use of wood.
Long dry farewell.
Considerable maturation potential.

Considered amongst SA top red wines and very much at home on the international scene. Forward bouquet with elegant notes of plums berry fruit and spicy oak, also some earthy tones. New Vintage just released - an absolute stunner!!

Rich dark ruby colouring, bordering on black. Appealing bouquet packed with dark berry fruit, cedar and wood spice. Also some smokey herbaceous notes. Dense powerful palate featuring abundance of ripe berry fruit and plums, flowing into sweet cherries mocha and nicely firmed with Cabernet backing. Silky texture, but firm tannins combine to offer superb balance. Good potential

Intense almost black colour
Initial erthyness opens up to an array of berry flavours with touch of eucalyptus.
Rich, full bodied and complex in character. Chewy and savoury, yet delicate and refined, finishing with a pleasant lingering aftertaste of roasted almonds.

Dense Red/Black colour.
A classic nasal delight - Cassis, wood spice, cigar box and more.
Typical Bordeaux styling - full elegant structure. Loads of flavour and complexity. Good black fruit, choc, wood spice and much more!
Long lingering finish - more-ish!!

Will develop further for some time to come.

Now firmly instilled in the SA hall of wine fame, with considerable overseas support, especially in the USA. Classical, no nonsense, upper end Bordeaux Style blend!

Crimson, ruby hue.
Pleasing red fruit, smoke and spice on the nose.

Firm, elegant structure with sour plums, choc and wood spice to the fore. Long and lingering finish.

Great food wine - age very well!

Shiraz - 2004/5:

Bold, well balanced and classy, a full bodied Shiraz (Syrah) of note.
Complex nose, with whiffs of berries, herbs and peppery notes.
Excellent fruit - deep blackberry flavours with some earthy hints. 12 months in American oak.
These wine mature well and hold for 10 years plus!

THELEMA, Merlot 2006

Merlot 2006.:

Deep ruby crimson
Bold nose - Raspberry dark chocolate and Mocha.
Very substantial. Red cherries, young plums and firm ripe tannins. Great structure and Spicy lingering finish.
Will grow considerably - serious wine!

Merlot - 2004/5:

Dense ruby/black colouring with garnet rim. Broad inviting nose, with dominance of black plums and spice. Also some earthy mineral notes.
Lovely fruit - rich ripe cherries and plums, with vanilla, spice and hint of 'sweet berry'. Elegant and charming with great depth and complexity. Will challenge internationally!

Lovely complexity to palate. Gooseberry and herbaceous flavours mingle gainfully with interesting mineral tones. Full crisp and zesty with great balance.

Essentially Fume' Blanc - wooded Sauvignon Blanc, with possibility of some Semillon in future vintages.

Lively crystal, with minute gold hint.
Loads of green undergrowth, scrub and peppers on nose with fine spicy tail.
Fresh and crispy, with loads of zesty fruit, layered with grassy, herbaceous tones. Lovely spiciness from wood, which adds hugely to complexity but does not impose!!

The wine exhibitis a pale yellow green colour with a nose reminiscent of freshly squeezed lime juice. On the palate the wine is elegent and refined with mineral overtones and a flinty core dominated by black truffle.
Maturation - drink now and over the next 2-3 years.
